PRAYER FOR OUR NATION

by

Stormie Omartian

Lord, we ask that you would pour out your Spirit upon our nation. Shine your light into the dark places of our land and expose the works of evil. We, Your people, have heavy hearts over what we see happening in our country and so we unite in prayer to confess the sins of our nation and to seek Your forgiveness. We specifically ask Your forgiveness for the violence, murder, deception, robbery, corruption, idol worship, and all other forms of godless behavior that have been allowed to flourish here. Forgive us and lead us in Your way. Teach us to follow You without compromise. Help us to pray more than criticize. Soften the hearts of people who have set themselves against You. Open their eyes to see Your truth. Open their ears to hear Your voice. How grateful we are that You are a God of mercy and You hear our prayers when we call to You. We ask for Your mercy upon us now.

Where greed and ignorance have been our downfall, bring us as a nation back into alignment with your righteous principles. We pray especially that You will protect our children – both living and unborn – so that they will be preserved physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for your purpose and glory. Put a stop to all violence against children in any form. Expose anyone who would do evil against a child before it happens. Bring the children of our land who have strayed from your ways back to You.

We ask that You would raise up Holy Spirit-led leaders in our state and national governments. Remove those who are corrupt or do not follow Your ways. Guide our President and his advisors and all of our Congressmen and Senators to always do the right thing. Give them godly wisdom to make correct decisions. Replace the ungodly with those who serve You. Raise up righteous judges who will be chosen to uphold the law according to Your Word. Protect us from our enemies, keep our economy from failing, and bring us back to be the nation we were meant to be.

We lift up praise to You and thank You that because You are our Lord, we are never without hope. Thank you that because You work powerfully through our prayers, we can see things turn around. Help us to pray as often and as fervently as we should. Enable us to pray according to Your will so that we can continue to enjoy Your hand of blessing upon our land.

            In Jesus’ name we pray.

It is no accident that I ran upon your site tonight.I have for many years used your books as guides for prayer. Thank You for your obedience to the Lord, many of us have been blessed by your obedience. This morning as I was praying and looking through the Lifeway catalog for studies. I knew that I needed to use your study for this next year. I have shared your books with friends but not the study. Here is the kicker for today. I volunteer at the Pregnancy Center in my town on Thursday afternoons. I always take a book from my shelf when I leave for work. Today as I went for a book your book A Story of Forgiveness and Healing caught may attention I had purchased it a few weeks ago at a second hand store. I opened up the pages and I started reading about an abortion. At that second I connected with you on a deeper level. I have suffered 3 abortions that had left me in the deepest pit for many years. That is why I am at the preganancy center. That is why I lead Bible studies. I am called to share my Reedeemer and His Love and Forgiveness and the Healing He will give to anyone who will believe and recieve. I did take your book with me and started to read it. I had to come home and get on your website. I too am praying for this country that has so much blood on it's soil. Stormie, please pray for me and the call on my life to sereve the Lord in this area that so many women and men are suffering from. Thanks for your ear.

Stormie, I'm not sure how to contact you, but I wanted to let you know I started an event on facebook where we're using The Power of a Praying Wife to pray for our husband every day in June. I'm in awe over the response (over 1400 women in less than 2 weeks). I am blogging about it as well and I wanted to know if it would be possible to quote the prayer at the end of the chapter. There are some women who cannot get the book, but I don't want to break any copyright either. thank you so much for your ministry... marriages have already been changed in the two days we've been doing this. I appreciate all the work you've done to bring the word together as you do. You are a gift to the body and we appreciate you! Thank you for teaching us to pray the word. God says that the "seed is the word of God" (Luke 8:11) and that is exactly what we need to "plant" in our life! As the word takes place in our heart, the miracles begin to happen...I have had many in my life and He IS faithful! I pray we get a hunger for His word so that we will see wonderful fruits in our lives. Thank you for all you do.

Stormie Your books have changed my life for the better, I use them as a guide in everything I do. I also buy them for female friends who are going through challenges in the lives and need to experience God's love and mercy.

By Sandra

Thank you for your your books may God bless you with wisdom and knowledge continue to produce these books for myself and others to benefit

By Andrea

Dear Stormie, I would like to join the others in thanking you for your books. I was given your The Power of a Praying Wife before I got married and it helped me through many difficult times. I have no other means of getting in touch with you and apologize for doing it this way. But I have had a longing to translate this particular book into my languale (Czech) for some time. I have contacted Kingsway and there has been no reply so far. Do you have any suggestions how to go about it? Kind regards, Andrea (a.haines@seznam.cz)

I am very disappointed in your "Books of Prayers". I purchased a couple of them from Amazon for $6.99 each and they are tiny!!!! Are you needing more Money? What's the deal? They're more like pamphlets than books.

By RESPONSE FROM THE WEBMASTER

I'm sorry if the description on Amazon was not clear. These pocket-sized booklets are merely the prayers from the actual book. They are intended for use in addition to, not instead of, the book.

Dear Stormie, I am so grateful for you and the books on marriage you have written. Our daughter has most of them and the study guides. They have helped her so much in her marriage. We are seeing such a wonderful change in our daughter! She was a believer, but now she is alive in Jesus, and I believe you are the instrument that God used to bring her to this point. Adversity has been a blessing. We also are seeing so many answered prayers in our son-in-law. We have such hope, but even when we get discouraged, she just prays more! Just continue to rely on the LORD for your writings. You are such a blessing to so many. Thank you! May you and your whole family be blessed abundantly. I'm new to the website, but I'm sure I will be as blessed as our daughter is. You have brought her through many a dark night and into the hope of a new day. God has many rewards awaiting you.

By kiran

thank you for this site, actually i have never heard or read your books but today i found your site while searching for the song "prayer that changes everything",its really amazing for me because i was prayer for certain things but didn't get any answers yet so totally depressed and thought God would not answer my prayers.
Thanks,Now I'm feeling God will definitely answer in some way.Im not sure whether i can find your books in my country but i just check it out,so eager to read.

Stormie...THANK YOU! I have read your books for years! I have given your book "The Power of a Praying Wife" to many and have been blessed and delivered of so much in my own marriage. I re-read the prayers all the time, and the miracles that happen as I agree in faith with the prayers are true miracles! Your "Stormie "testamony book, is also one of my favorites. You need to put it back into print... I am so excited for your new books and will be purchasing all of them! I have all your prayer books and many of your other books! Thank you for your wonderful ,powerful ministry! I also saw your Play when you were in the area years ago... and play the Child of the promise CD over and over at Christmas.I am so blessed by your ministry! May the Lord continue to Bless you and your family! And may you know the miracles that are happening because of the annoiting, power and praise, as we agree with the prayers, in faith...we lay before our Lord Jesus Christ! Blessings, love and prayers to you Stormie! :)

I pray for God's will on this country. The direction the government appears to be heading is to socialism. So many Americans, due to greed and complacency, want to be taken care of.

Socialism creates a need for dependence. Unfortunately, we've created a culture that finds this appealing.

May we continue to pray for our leaders and for the people of this land. May we place dependence on the Lord. May we seek His guidance in all we do. Lord, we love you.

I have been in the closet for over 40 years. Even though I have had teh Holy Spirit in me for over 20 years. I have finally had my Seisures now under control since childhood in June 2004. It has only beenn since then that I am now more in contol of what is of what is ogin on inmy life . Because I am not so exhusted form medication and the seizures, I figured out that I have the Holy aspirit to hlp me withe my no short term memory not that I have to rely on everyone else and that there is not way I am always wrong in a discustion. I jsut need apusse time to think of what was said or is going on. I tolld my Psychotrist I can do it any more on myown I have to give it to Jesus to take care of. He told me I am glad I heard both but it is going to be an up and down road with your husband. Who doesn't wnat to speak about anything.

He was right. Now the road is giong down hill right now. He has left em with our nine year old and had divorce papers snet to the house that is in forclosure only in his name due to him making me sign a paper back in surgury days that I did not know I signed.

I have been teling my church I think it seems I nee dot rely on Gods Church because to many that know you personally and form the apst before surgury are to afraid to step forward to help adn see where you are now with God. That is between them and God, whidh even wiht my hisband I told him he is mad at God not me. He told me that is none of your business.

We are seperated after being married fo r23 years. I did et to see you and your husband Stormie about the book you wrote for the men. I understadn you two went through some times as well. But my husband has told me his patience is up.

ALthough now our nine year old has been diagnosed with ADHD that he will not except.

I know our Father has been snding me amny in my town and other places I have been to talk to.

God is in control which some do not like.

In Christ,

Stormie, I am finally able to give you a gratitude of THANKS for blessing the lives of my children, family and dear friends with your books. My friends and I pray together for our children. Thank you for your guide to form a prayer group to intercede for our children. Many prayers have been answered Thank you for allowing God to use you in so many ways. I was ready to get a divorce a year ago after I prayed with my pastor for direction. I ended up at the bookstore minutes afterwards and while waiting on a friend, I pick up Praying Through the Deeper Issues of Marriage. It had just been released. I know now that the Holy Spirit made me pick it up. I read the chapter If Hope Seems Lost and You Need a Miracle. The testamony about the guy in prison was a turning point. A week or so later, I woke up a 5:30 a.m. and you and your husband were on the James Robinson program talking about your book. God woke me up several mornings to messages on marriage. I kno that God wants me to fight for my marriage and not give up. As you stated in your book, we have to change. God is helping me to be a better person and healing me from some devastating past circumstances. Oh how wonderful this experience has been. Through the consistent praying for my husband and marriage, I love him even more than I did before we got married six years ago. We are still separated since 2007 and had not talked since last year until a couple of weeks ago after I had been praying for God the break the communication barrier and how we should speak to one another. What a breakthrough. Stormie, I thank God along with my friend for your courage and willingness the share. I feel that I am in a state of hopelessness at this stage of our separation and lack of communication, however I am willing to do what it takes with faith, strength, learning, praying and courage to become a success story as you are praying and pulling for. May God bless you and your husband, marriage, children and ministry. Thanks for being that light and God's vessel.

By Harvey

Thanks for all the encouragement over the years to offer prayer to a great and allmighty God. You have definately developed the art to express rock solid faith through prayer.

I am on a journey as a prayer warrior in my church and I wish to if there are any refernces which you can direct me to folow along with the Word of God.

I am also developing a bible study on the different types of prayers individuals can offer to God. Can you help me in identifying how many types of prayers there are and how to develop a bible study around these?

God bless your ministries, God bless your family members, God bless every reading of every book which has been and will be published.

By Debra

I am writing you because I do believe in the Power of prayer in problems, issues... etc. because I talk with the Lord every second, minute and hours. I will be marry for 30 years on December 25th. I am taking a class at my church call the Power of a Praying Wife. I am reading this book and I disagree with page 32 of the book subtitle where it states, "Shut Up and Pray" I put in the subtitle "Be Quiet and Pray. We are reading Chapter 4 & 5, however in your book in Chapter 4 you did not talk about the need to expand on health and sex...because I married my husband for love not sex...and we communicate on daily. I think that you are addressing this book to couple that has been married less than 10 years. I am not a negative person, because I am feel that praying is always the answer when you are one with the Lord.

Sincerely,

Debra

I was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and have been dealing with the fear of the unknown during the time period of further testing and treatment plan development. At times, I find myself so scared. Three nights ago, I found a copy of your "Seven Prayers That Will Change Your Life" in our bedroom. Neither my wife nor I remember where it came from, but it's impact on my outlook is amazing. It's like God is talking to me on every page. My prayers are more heartfelt and more focused already. I can't wait to read the book again and see what God is telling me this time through. God Bless You!

Stormie, I just picked your book "Stormie" out of the bookshelf night before last, saw it there and decided I wanted to read it again, and stayed up until 2 AM last night to finish it, and I know the Holy Spirit led me to read it again because my daughter has been really down the last few days, her dad died last January, my husband of almost 42 years, suddenly and out of the blue, so it's been so devastating. We live on a ranch, and she'd taken over, but she misses his guidance so much, also she has a full-time job as a teacher, so she is maxed out with responsibilities, and the last few days she'd just been feeling like crying. So this morning, after refreshing my mind about how to escape with Jesus' help from spirits of oppression, and how to use the keys that Jesus has given us to keep ourselves free, I knew how to pray for her with the Holy Spirit's help, and she had stayed home from school as she was so blue she couldn't cope, and she told me she went back to sleep and dreamed her dad was there with her and she was able to tell him all the things she hadn't before he died, how much she appreciated him and thanking him for all the things he'd taught her about life and ranching. Then she dreamed her sisters and nieces had arrived for a visit, which is always thrilling! So any dreams she'd had before where her dad appeared had ended in her being so sad and devastated when he was gone again, but this time she woke up feeling peaceful and so much better! Thank you so much for what you do for a hurting world, I know the Lord used this dream as an answer to our prayers this morning and gave her peace. God bless you.

Stormie, can you write a book for widows? I loved (and still do!) love your marriage books, they helped me.

I have not been able to sincerely forgive my mother for a lifetime of rejection and criticism. I am filled with guilt and condemnation and can not sustain friendships and I know this is why. I do not like to visit her or call her because i feel unworthy and unloved when i do she will not validate or recognize me. then i go into guilt because i cannot love her or fogive her and feel guilt because it's my mother. i do not know what to do. I've seen God work in my life but this has been the hardest and longest path he has me on I know forgiving her will set me free but I can not find it in my heart. I am reading all of stormie's books. I feel because i tell myself i forgive her but i don't feel it and i don't want to contact her, but i do once in a while. i have the fear of God because i'm not forgiving her. I am just wrought with this angry because it's robbing me of my life and I won't let go. maybe i'm afraid of being free or that if i forgive her it won't change anything. i want to forgive but i don't want to have a relationship with her. i'm a mess. Please pray

I have not been able to find a prayer book for women that has been domestically abused. Can someone lead me in the right direction if there is such a book.

Thank you in advance

Dear Stormie,
A godly friend of mine gave me your most recent book, "The Power Of Praying For Your Adult Children" because of all of the trouble that I have had with one of my children. I started to read it and you have some really godly advice concerning prayer. But as I was reading it, I just couldn't help but think,"I wonder if this author has ever personally gone through the hell and sorrow with her children." Sometimes, it is easier for me to take the advice of someone who has personally gone through the same thing that
I have gone through.
Please, let me know about your children. Thank you.

Stormie, I have been so frustrated regarding my children and how they are living. I did not know how to pray for them and came on your website and saw the book Praying for your Adult Children. BINGO! I have all your other books about prayer but needed this one. Just received and cannot wait to get into it. Have already prayed a lot of the prayers. I too pray for this country. We need to return to our Creator and lean on Him for guidance and stop looking to men to handle it all. GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL!!

Stormie and I went to the same high school together. I remember her vividly, she was involved in all the school assemblies, she was in my accounting class and gym class.

I always thought Stormie was so sad, she never smiled. Then I read her autobiography and I found out why.

Bless you Stormie Sherk Omartian! We go back a long way, don't we? And we are survivors of what has been thrust in our paths!

Stormie, could you write a book about adult children praying for their parents. My parents are in their late 70's and 80's and I do pray for them, I use some of your other books and insert their name in it. But I have nothing specific. You have a gift of making things specific. Thank you, sincerely, MJ

Dear Stormie

I had your book since 2008 but I have not taken the time to use it until end of last year when my relationhip with my husband changes. Things were not going well and I know that I need to pray for this relationship to work. Then I remembered the book 'The Power of a Praying Wife and I started to pray along with it and things just starts to change for the better. I became more patience and understand my husband better. I started to stop doubting my husband and start believing that God will protect us. I have also see a tremedous change in my husband. I will continue to use your books as a guide to continue to pray for my husband, my son and everyone around me.

I thanked God for sending someone like you to write books that helped people like me. God Bless you.

Dear Stormie, I thank you so much for your books and their impact on all of us. I am the Youth Ministry Coordinator at our church and am planning a four day "camp" for our middle and high school youth. I am planning on using "The Power of a Praying Teen" as a small group study for the Worship part of each day. Is there anything else you would recommend to help us give our youth the confidence they need to pray?Thank you so much for any suggestions. In God's love, Judy

Hi Stormie and Michael. My wife and I have been married for almost 34 years. We went together for 9 years before getting married, so we have been in each others company since we were 15 years old. We have had some very good times and some very bad times. We have 3 adult children, 1 married, no grandchildren. The relationship between my wife and I had deteriorated to the point where the Lord had to get my attention, we both have been Christians for about 20 years. On Valentines Day of this year, I made my wife dinner, bought her a plant and the most beautiful card I have ever seen. I was a daily wine drinker and consumed a considerable amount of wine that day. My wife started to harrass me, and I responded with unkindness which escalated to a shove, no medical attention required, no cuts, bruises or broken bones, but a push. My wife in desperation called 911 and then tried to cancel the call, but it was too late. In the province we live in, in Canada, they have a zero tolerance law and I was handcuffed and arrested. I have not had any contact with my wife for 31 days now, even though she has written a letter to the powers that be that I did not hurt her that day, nor have I ever hurt her in 42 years and that I am not a violent person and that she wants me to come home. We are both very distraught that we cannot see each other nor communicate in any way, shape or form. The daily drinking that I was doing was displeasing to God and I was refusing to change so the police, the 911 call, the laws of the province were all just a part of God's plan to get my attention. Please pray for us that the no contact order is withdrawn and we can be back together.

Anyway the reason for this message is that during my time of trouble (there were times in the last 31 days that I did not think that I would make it) I came across your book (about 3 days ago), The Power of a Praying Husband. I have read the first 6 chapters and through your book, Jesus Christ has opened my eyes to understanding my wife more than anything else has in the past 42 years. I cannot wait to be back with my wife and follow the Holy Spirit's guidance as outlined in your book. I intend to get as many copies of the book as I can to give to other husbands who are confused about "what to do". Thank you Stormie and Michael, what you are doing is so important, May God bless you abundantly.

Aloha, Stormie...

Thank you very much for your books and for the love that writes them.

I purchased The Power of a Praying Nation recently. I was trying to pray for our president and government leaders according to your prayers in the Twelve Ways to Pray for the Heart of Our Country section, but my prayer attitude is crippled -- make that decimated -- because of what is happening in our nation where our elected and appointed leaders are (by their own confession) blatantly trampling the US Constitution they vowed to protect and uphold, and refuse to listen to the people they pretend to represent.

Do you have any new prayers for our government that are more appropriate for our current "leaders"?

God bless you in the biggest way possible, Stormie!

Dear Stormie...

Thanks for your books. I will be getting married next month, and your book Praying through the Deeper Issues of Marriage has been a blessing to me...I and my spouse-to-be are entering that institution prepared, fortified by God through that precious book. God bless you Stormie

Stormie~

Thank you for your book The Power of a Praying Wife. I have read this book before but I picked it up today to re-read after my husband moved out to live by himself. We have been married 14 years in which he has suffered depression all of these years and before. Then, three years ago he suffered a stroke and many surgeries and proceedures to follow. Three weeks ago, he attempted suicide by taking an overdose of sleeping medication. He was in the hospital and then to a treatment facility for a week. He is very angry with me and blames everything on me. I have been the primary caregiver for my husband during his health issues. I understand his anger towards me is common in these situations and I will not give up on my commitment to my husband and to God. He is angry and wants a divorce, I told him I will not make any decisions for 6 months, knowing prayer can change anything!! I trust God is right smack dab in the middle of this situation and he knows my heart and I pray he will soften his heart. I just finished the first chapter and wanted to stop to take a moment and THANK YOU for your words and inspiration as they are speaking loud and clear, straight to my heart!

Blessings!

In light of federal judge Barbara Crabb yesterday (Thursday, 4/15/2010) declaring the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional, we need to be praying more than ever. When I saw the report on FOX News this morning about it, I stopped and prayed for Judge Crabb. As far as I'm concerned, she's wrong on this issue!

By Carol

Stormie, Could you please write a book for those of us who are getting older? I'm almost 60, and I want to know how to navigate these years; things about exercise, eating right, avoiding stress, etc. Thank you so much!

By Christa

I agree with Tana Lee and Peggy. I sure hope for some custom-made prayers for the current people in office, and the citizens too.

By maryleigh

Is there a possibility of The Power of Praying for an Adult Child becoming available in a Bible Study?

By Rebeca

Hi Stormie. I'm a Brazilian girl and I loved reading this prayer. I think all Christians should pray for their nation. I will use your prayer in this blog as an example of prayer for Brazil. Because my country needs God so much. I read your history and I thank God for curing you and using you nowadays. God bless you. I love you because we're sisters, right?

By Shamina

Praise God for the prayers for our nation. May the Lord bless you Stormie.

Good Morning, your daily prayer always helps me get through my day. Today I think that the web site is not working because only the top part of the home page is visible. Thank you

When the Lord Places a Burden on you to Pray for the Salvation of Someone -

Shouldn't We Pray: Placing a Claim of the Holy Spirit on the Soul of the Person for Jesus?

__________________________________________

While praying, I was lead to the verses from Job 1:6-12, where Satan ask the Lord to give him Job.

Job 1:6-12

"6Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

7And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

8And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

9Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

10Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

12And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD."

Then another passage was given to me, from Luke 22:31-32, where Jesus tells Peter, Satan ask for him.

Luke 22:31-32

"31And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

32But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."

One common element in both of these passages, neither Job nor Peter possessed the indwelling Holy Spirit at the time of the events given.

The thought occurred to me, if my understanding of these two passages is correct, Satan is in effect asking the Lord to give him the souls of Job and Peter, respectively. Why then cannot the New Testament Christian, who possess the indwelling Holy Spirit, be able to pray a claim on the soul of an individual for Jesus Christ?

I do recognize each individual is a free agent and MUST make their own choice to receive salvation. However, Believers possess the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit and would not such a prayer lend the full measure of the Holy Spirit's power to become the "hound of heaven" to draw the person to the Lord?

Thank you for any insight you can share to bring clear understanding to the questions.

I just want to say that your book The Power of PRAYER to Change Your Marriage is so well written. I wanted to say WHAT a BLESSING you are to your sisters and brothers in God's kingdom. The book could have been written for me. Thank you so very much Stormie, from the bottom of my heart.

May God continually pour out His blessings upon you, your family and your very special ministry.

Stormie, my husband and I, and my parents, are using your books (Praying Parent, Praying Wife, Praying Husband, Praying for Your Adult Children) and would like to know if you could please write a book(s) for adult children on praying for your family members, particularly parents and siblings. We have a great need for this with so many broken homes - even ones where the parents are still married. In Malachi 4:5-6 (NIV), G-d says, "See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse." We realize many countries and families are under a curse because of rebellion on the children's side and abuse or neglect on the parents' side. We need help learning how to pray so that family's hearts are once more turned back to each other. Thank you.

I'm so excited to see that you have the same prayer in your heart as is in mine. Thank you for sharing. You have put into words what has been in my heart, and I will pursue praying God's way.
